Sssssh! I’ll whisper, but we are now in the countdown to Christmas…. We’ve passed the 100 day mark and now in double figures, so if you like to get in the festive spirit with added baubles, here’s our picks of the best Christmas shopping and shenanigans in London.

Whether you have a huge pressie list or are window shopping for yourselves, we have hand-picked the cream of intriguing, exquisite and unique places to get in the mood for Christmas. Bonus points as you’ll be shopping local too.
Shop handmade crafts and artisan goodies at Dulwich Christmas Market on 26 Nov at St Barnabas Hall. Or head to the outdoor market at Selfridges for personalised wreaths and heaps of stalls selling Christmas goodies, street food stalls and rides for the kids.

Christmas in Leicester Square boasts a traditional market filled with a wonderful array of crafts and tempting treats. Afterwards, head to the Belgian Spiegeltent to enjoy a brilliant lineup of comedy, cabaret or magic shows.

Tour the historical arches of Borough Market, decked out with lights, decorations and twinkling ornaments, as you source the finest seasonal foods while listening to choirs and buskers singing jolly tunes. Or head to “Christmas by the River '' which takes inspiration from German Christmas market’s wooden huts, and you can get in the holiday mood and snap up unique handmade crafts, helped by lashings of mulled wine.

Get hands-on at craft workshops at Christmas under the Canopy, a covered market found in King's Cross. Last year's highlights include an exciting array of stalls, carol singers, food tastings, mulled wine and masterclasses at Canopy Market, which welcomes independent, ethical and sustainable vendors.

Whereas RITES Pre-Loved POP-UP store in Broadway Market is a haven for label lovers who love the planet. The pop-up is designed to reduce clothing waste by keeping garments in circulation and stocks sample and archive clothing, accessories and bags from brands like Stine Goya, Rixo, and Faithfull the Brand, with prices slashed by up to 80%. There’ll be some vintage goodies from the likes of Gucci, Miu Miu and Balenciaga in store too alongside beauty and homewares from Sustainable Dept. Store. Until January 2023

Westminster City Council has taken over unit 12 Piccadilly Arcade and turned it into a pop-up boutique, showcasing emerging and indie lifestyle brands and sustainable fashion labels, Pick up something unique from labels including Lone Design Club, Angie Power, CQ Studio, L Saha and TSAU until Dec 22.

Battersea Power Station is launching the Arcade Food Hall. The Grade II-listed building will be opening the doors to the public this autumn and as well as seeing it from ground level, you can shoot up to the top of it via a glass lift inside the iconic chimneys. LIFT 109 will transport you up 109 metres to a stunning viewpoint over the city.

You can’t go wrong with cashmere, so head to the Nearly New Cashmere pop up at John Lewis Oxford St from 12-18 December. Founded by Alison Orr, she handpicks and carefully restores and recycles discarded 100% cashmere- whether that’s by patching and repairing, or transforming items into something else.
