We were lucky enough to visit The Gantry restaurant in Stratford and try some of Saicho’s exquisite sparkling tea. Based in the striking 40 Celebration Avenue building, The Gantry is a hotel that is also home to the Union Social Restaurant, The Coupe Bar and a very atmospheric looking roof top terrace.
Each of Saicho’s unique expressions; Darjeeling, Hojicha, Jasmine and the newly launched rare Eight Immortals tea are cold-brewed for twenty-four hours then finely balanced with a hint of sweetness and a dash of acidity. As a finishing touch, sparkling the tea enhances the flavour and creates an effervescent drink, designed to be served chilled in a Champagne flute or coupe.
We tried the Jasmine Blossom Green sparkling tea, which had a very delicate floral flavour complemented by a mildly bitter undertone from the green tea - a pretty perfect combination!
Whilst drinking Saicho Tea you don’t feel like you’re missing out on the glamour that comes with drinking alcohol. The tea comes in a beautifully designed bottle and box and is to be served in an elegant wine or champagne glass, making Saicho Tea a very ceremonious drinking experience.
Whether you are looking to extend your dry Jan or just looking for a way to diversify your drinking experiences, we highly recommend clinking your glasses to Saicho Tea!
On a cold and miserable January evening the Roasted Butternut Squash Risotto was just the warming meal the doctor ordered! This was followed by dessert from the Food Pairing Menu that went with the Jasmine Sparkling Tea. We had the Che Bonh Lat, Pandon Coconut Jelly, Compressed Mango, Jasmine snow tea & Vanilla Tulle - this tasted as delicious as it looked! (see how beautifully presented it was in picture 3 at the top of the page).
We loved our trip to The Gantry. There is no doubt we will be sipping Saicho Sparkling Tea throughout 2022 - not just for dry January.
