Introducing the concept of ‘Eco Sexy’ clothing | I AM NOT A VIRGIN
Simple, soft and eco-sexy, I AM NOT A VIRGIN is an NYC based company, founded by Peter Heron. They are on a mission to make the most comfy clothes, improve the environment and raise social awareness of the extreme waste, which is accumulated every year.
I AM NOT A VIRGIN proves that recycled materials don’t have to keep their un-seductive label. The ‘Eco Sexy’ collection reflects a timeless elegance with an eco-consideration that just so happens to be impossibly comfortable…which really does seem impossible since there are at least two plastic bottles within each garment.
They recycle plastic bottles with polyester and blend it with cotton to make the fabric, which then creates these beauties:
Each year we throw away 200 billion plastic bottles that take 500 years to decompose – I AM NOT A VIRGIN uses these bottles and gives them a new lease of life. Determined to do their part to restore the planet back to health by rethinking the way clothes are manufactured, development is underway for an innovative yarn that uses 100% polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and discarded rice husks (instead of cotton) to yield a champion in eco-friendly materials, which will further reduce the amount of waste headed for landfill sights.
I AM NOT A VIRGIN really is for the fashion conscious with a conscience, they are not only looking out for the environment but have impeccably strict guidelines for the factories they are working with, making sure employee treatment is at the highest standard.
SO to most of us still wearing clothes from virgin materials, in the words of the I AM NOT A VIRGIN team, it is time to pop our cherries...
