In true British spirit, the sun is shining and we are heading outside to soak it up in any way we can – alfresco drinking and dining is making its annual comeback and 2018 is doing it in style. Here are some of our recommendations for this summer:
The Rooftop One...
Skylight at Tobacco Dock has kicked off another spectacular sun-filled season. After becoming one of London’s most popular and imaginative rooftop destinations, Skylight is now a firm fixture on any summer hotlist. The biggest rooftop in London, Skylight boasts three floors of bars, street food, live entertainment, croquet, pétanque, screens, DJs and an unrivalled view of London’s iconic skyline. Each level of Skylight is dotted with bars serving an all-new refreshing seasonal cocktail menu alongside spritzes, beers, pitchers, punches, bubbly and wine. On the lower level, street food traders YIRO and Flipside are serving up the ultimate summer menu.
The Terrace One...
With its atmospheric dark walls, rich fabrics and opulent detail, Vijay’s Bar & Lounge provides a haven for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the streets below. The twenty-five capacity room leads on to a hidden outdoor terrace, an ideal spot for alfresco drinking in the warm summer months ahead. Located in the heart of Fitzrovia, guests can dine on Indian tapas and delicious cocktails, at Charlotte Street's newest hidden gem.
The Sophisticated One...
Adjoining the brasserie at the Devonshire Club is a beautiful garden room that combines colourful and sophisticated seating with elegant foliage - the perfect place for a light meal or a snack for that laid back meeting, or simply taking a breather from a hectic day. The Garden Room opens out onto a spacious oasis, perfect for long summer lunches and post work cocktails.
The Classic One...
During the summer Exmouth Market is a hive of activity: restaurants extend into the street under the twinkling lights that crisscross the pavement. Sitting on the top corner of the market, Coin Laundry’s newly refurbished and bright interior is an inviting day to night spot. This Summer, Clerkenwell locals will be able to perch on tables outsides and enjoy ice-cold pints of Coin Laundry’s own lager, accompanied by moreish plates of Lamb scrumpets with wild garlic mayo, then head into the plant-festooned restaurant for dinner and a Strawberry Icecream Negroni.
The Park One...
The Park Café is a new venue from Urban Leisure Group (ULG), the dynamic team behind local NW neighbourhood restaurants and bars. At the heart of beautiful Queen’s Park, the rejuvenated café offers a vibrant and healthy take on classic park dining. Benefitting from the park’s dawn ‘til dusk opening hours, park-goers will be able to stay at the café into the evening and enjoy interesting wines, Fourpure beer, or an East London Liquor Co. G&T, al fresco.
